The
Highlander cow (that is, coming from the Highlands, the Scottish highlands) is
a meek and docile animal, perfectly adapted to the territory from which it
comes. Its distinguishing feature is thick fur, which we are not used to seeing
in a bovine. These animals have an outer layer of long, oily, and impermeable
hairs that form a barrier against wind and rain; the heat is instead maintained
by a soft and woolly underlying layer of fur.
Needless to
say, puppies of this breed are absolutely adorable, with their round snouts and
abundant fringes that drop over their eyes. Here is a gallery to admire them in
all their wild sweetness.
