If we talk about the Guinness Book of Records in the animal world, we cannot ignore the mention of the harpy eagle.
This imposing bird that lives
mostly in Central and South America is in fact the largest of this entire
family of raptors, after the Haast's eagle (also called the New Zealand giant
eagle) became extinct about 500 years ago.
The female is over one meter
long and has a wingspan of 2 meters, with a weight of 7.5 kg. With these
numbers, it is no surprise that it manages to hunt incredibly heavy and strong
prey, such as primates or sloths, which it kills with its scary claws.
