“It is a recognition that is given to those who dared to do something different for the benefit of the community. Santiago estimated that the engineer Alicia Medina, due to her work on agricultural innovation, met the standards, also required by the jury, ”he said.

For his part, Medina Hoyos thanked the recognition of the work he has been doing with purple corn.

“I am pleasantly surprised, happy that they value the innovation in purple corn. It encourages me to continue working for the institutional, personal, and producer good of Peru, ”he said.

Through participation in the competitive funds of the National Agrarian Innovation Program of the INIA, Medina Hoyos carried out the research in 6 varieties to determine not only the levels of anthocyanin in the panca, crown, or cob but also the yield of purple corn. With the study, it was determined that the superior variety was INIA 601.
